How to play blackjack for beginners

Some people have the notion that blackjack is the simplest of the table games played in casinos. This is not always the case. Blackjack is a game of strategy and not of chance. The smarter the player is, the more chances they have of winning. Some players have even been known to count the cards on the table to try and outsmart their opponents, a strategy that has been quite successful for them.

Blackjack is also known as 21. A player’s hand needs to total 21 or close to 21 without going over. However, this is not the ultimate goal of the game. A player’s main intention is to beat the dealer at the table. You’ll start to get the hang of it once you start playing.

Blackjack is played with a deck of 52 cards and there can be up to eight decks in any particular game. When the players lay their cards on the table, the card values are counted and the one whose value is close to 21 has the upper hand. There is only one exception to this rule. ‘Blackjack’ is a total of two cards, i.e. an ace and any one of the cards with a value of ten. This wins over all the other cards that total 21.

The cards that are numbered 2 – 10 have a value of the number printed on its face. An Ace can either be a 1 or 11 depending on the player’s choice. Jack, King, and Queen are each worth a value of 10. Each player is supposed to make a bet before the game starts. The game proceeds by the dealer giving every player two cards. He also takes two cards and one is dealt face up.
